I saw this browser game featured on CNN today and I decided to give it a try, and I have to tell you, its both fun and informative, and also, quite depressing.
BUDGET HERO 2.0
"If you ever wanted to control where your tax dollars go, here's your chance to decide"
The game gives players the chance to choose where their tax dollars are spent while simultaneously working to save our ailing economy. You can choose which areas are your main goals, you can make the cuts, mess with taxes, and see how the debt reacts. The game briefs you at the beginning so you can quickly learn the mechanics, and its pretty easy to play.
Where does the game take all the data from? Clicking on the "data" tab, you get more info about the game, and how it works. According to that info, "The game relies primarily on the budget model and forecasts in the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) "Long Term Budget Outlook." We grouped together the CBO budget categories into fewer building categories to simplify the game"
I played for a little bit, and wasnt able to balance the budget, I tried to cut a little bit here and there, and give a priority to the areas I wanted, but it wasn´t enough. Some of you might find it interesting, some of you might find it fun, and maybe some of you might find it frivolous.
It will be pretty interesting to see the results of your experiments, comparing what we all focus in, and who gets the better out of it!
